Managing People and Organisation Management Capability

Question: Describe about the Managing People and Organisation for Management Capability. Answer: Introduction This study is helpful to identify the concept of how the personality factors influence the global management capability. In this connection, it can be observed that there are five personality traits, which can influence the performance of the global leaders in case of dealing of the global businesses. These five determinants are the inquisitiveness, dealing with the several perspectives of the businesses, accumulation of the overseas experiences and then add the valuation, lastly identification of the requirements of the several global businesses models (Collings, 2014). These personal determinants will be helpful to develop the global leaders behaviour. On the other hand, it can be mentioned that this study has tried to discuss the necessity of the big five factors model. These big five factors are openness, conscientious, extraversion, agreeableness and the neuroticism (De Feyter et al., 2012). Among these five determinants, this study has focused to the importance and the uses of two factors such as openness and the conscientiousness. As per the openness factor, it can be mentioned that the combination of creativity and the curiousness of a global leader can enhance the performance of a business. The productivity of that business will be significantly increased. Moreover, this study has highlighted the impact of these two mentioned factors. After the analysis, it can be observed that there is an adverse relationship between the openness and the conscientiousness (Doz Prahalad, 2013). Lastly, this study has focused to the development of DIEP model on the three factors such as openness, impression management and the cooperative nature of the global leaders with the employees. As per the DIEP model, this study has focused to the SMART goal framework, which will be helpful to identify the specific, measurable, attainable, reliable and the time bound factors in order to achieve the objectives of the business. Literature review This study has highlighted the concept of global management capabilities. In this connection, how the personal factors influence the global management capabilities, has highlighted. On the other hand, this study has aimed to discuss the big 5 personality factors. Global management capabilities: Global leadership can manage the business as there are cultural, legal and economical differences within an organisation. As per the statement of Gurven et al., (2013), there are five personal factors, which can affect the global management capabilities can be discussed briefly in the following: Inquisitiveness: According to Hamel Prahalad (2013), the global leaders are often facing new experiences. They are willing to know new things and also willing to take new challenges. In case of expansion of a business in the global market, the global leaders can effectively seeking out new experiences. Firstly, it can be mentioned that these global leaders listen carefully without the judgement. They are able to understand the other leaders perspective in order to develop his own view. Lahiri, Kedia Mukherjee (2012) added that curious leaders are seems to supportive, non-blaming and willing to work together by making of group. These global leaders also aim to expand the business by considering the innovations and supporting the collaborations. Therefore, it can be inferred that the nature of curiousness of a global leader is helpful as the leaders are willing to know more from the other global leaders and by using the business strategy he can take greater decisions. As a result, the business will b e effectively expanded in the global market. Dealing with the several perspective and ambiguity: As per the statement of Lasserre (2012), the global leaders are passionate about their works and able to achieve the objectives of the business. A global leader can effectively focus to the several viewpoints of a business and can manage the business objectives from different perspectives of the countries. In addition, it can be stated that the global leaders are able to identify their mistakes and then they can learn from the mistakes. This will in turn make the leaders more successful and also make the business successful. As a result, with this specific personality trait, it can be stated that the nature of passion of a global leader can fruitfully achieve the objective of the business. Overseas experience: As per the opinion of Lee Carter (2012), most of the global leaders are able to identify and understand the international culture of the businesses. As a result, these leaders can learn the several international business strategies, which is essential to expand a business successfully. Therefore, it can be stated that accumulation of information regarding the global businesses can enhance the experience of the global leaders (Smith et al., 2012). Therefore, it can be opined that with the help of the overseas experience, the global leaders can recognise the global culture, which is required to understand for the expansion of a business. Adapt and add the valuation: After accumulating the information from different sources, it can be mentioned that they can improve their knowledge significantly. This has a positive reflection on the decision making process. In this purpose, Wang et al., (2012) mentioned that proper balance between the listening and learning is very essential. On the contrary, Wang Feng (2012) argued that sometimes over learning can leads to the global leaders to be reluctant to complete the business goal. Therefore, it can be mentioned that during the time of gathering of experiences and new techniques from the global businesses, the global leaders require to focus to the concept of self awareness (Wong, 2013). After the analysis, it can be mentioned that after the accumulation of data, adding the valuation factor is helpful to reflect the decision making procedure. Identify the requirements of the several business models: In case of global business, the business models are varying from country to country. In this connection, it can be stated that the global leaders require to understand all of the requirements of the business in order to develop the customized marketing along with the concept of branding of products and the selling techniques. During the expansion of global business, the global leaders require to be honest (Wong et al., 2012). They require to deal with the global businesses by maintaining of business ethics and morality. As a result, it can be concluded that in case of the expansion of a business in the global market, the global leaders require to focus to the all of the necessities of the business. Big 5 personality factors: The Big five personality factors are the openness to the experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and the neuroticism. These big five factors are helpful to develop the personality of the global leaders. As per the concept of openness to experience, Lahiri, Kedia Mukherjee (2012) opined that this strategy can reflect the intellectual curiosity of the global leaders. Moreover, this strategy is helpful to reflect the creativity of the global leaders, which is important to enhance a business in the global market. On the other hand, as per the second factors, Hamel Prahalad (2013) cited that conscientiousness can reflect the global leaders nature of self discipline. Next, the extraversion factor highlights the positive emotions, energetic nature of the global leaders. In addition, it can be mentioned that the extravert global leaders get their energy by communicating with the others (Lee Carter, 2012). Therefore, it can be stated that the extraversion strategy consid ers the nature of talkative and assertive. Moreover, the fourth factor that is the agreeableness aims to the nature of compassionate and the cooperative (Lahiri, Kedia Mukherjee, 2012). This cooperative nature of the global leaders effectively influences the workers of an organisation. As per the statement of Doz Prahalad (2013), this cooperative nature of the global leaders is helpful to build the trust of the organisational staffs. On the contrary, it can be mentioned that lower agreeableness sometimes reflect the challenging people or the competitive factors, which is not favourable for to develop the worthiness of a global leader (Wang Feng, 2012). Lastly, the Neuroticism factor reflects to experience the unpleasant emotions of the global leaders. In this context, this study has tried to highlight the nature of two factors among the big five factors. The nature of these two factors can be discussed briefly in the following: Openness to experience: According to Wong (2013), it is the most controversial among the other four personality factors. The openness to experience factor seeks to the appreciation of art, adventure, emotion, curiosity and the nature of the variety of experience. This also reflects the individual global leaders creativity. The combination of creativity and the curiosity can enhance the productivity of a global business. Creativity can significantly increase the output level and the business will be expanded. More specifically, Wang et al., (2012) mentioned that a global leader having the openness to experience factor leads to initiate new ideas in the business. On the other hand, it can be added that this definite type of factor is necessary for the skill acquisition (Wong et al., 2012). It can be also mentioned that the ideas are facilitated to initiate new strategies, which is helpful to mitigate the risks within the organisation. Conscientiousness: According to Smith et al., (2012), this factor shows the self discipline nature of the global leadership. In this connection, it can be stated that self discipline nature is helpful to achieve the business objective in a systematic way. Nevertheless, Gurven et al., (2013) argued that high conscientiousness sometimes reflects an adverse impact on the global leaders and it can be perceived that the global leaders would be stubborn and obsessive. Again, based on the concept of conscientiousness it can be demonstrated that the business require to be well structured, so that it can tactfully mitigate the risks within the company (Hamel Prahalad, 2013). Therefore, in a synopsis, it can be inferred that in order to achieve the objectives of a business and make it successful, the global leaders require to follow a systematic and methodical approach. Impact of the personality on global management capabilities From the above stated personality factors of the Big five model, the researcher concentrates on the two important factors such as openness to experience and the conscientiousness. In the words of Jia, Jia Karau (2013), work outcomes are measured by the performance of the job along with the job progression. Moreover, it is found that there is a positive relationship between the openness to experience with the performance of high complexity job and negative relationship with the performance of low complexity job. However, it is also shown that openness to experience shows a negative relationship with the progression of job when the person is high on conscientiousness, whereas, positive relationship with the progression of job during the time of low conscientiousness (De Feyter, Caers, Vigna Berings, 2012). By following the above two factors of the Big five personality model, the impact of individual one is positive and significant on global management capabilities. In the words of Judge et al., (2013), in the situation of high on openness to experience of a person signifies the condition that new and innovative ideas can be generated along with creativity. This would enhance the performance of job. Moreover, with the help of imagination power, the individual one can progress in the job (Shedler Westen, 2014). As a result, work outcomes become significant which would enhance the foster growth of the organization. However, as commented by Mller, Beutel, Egloff Wlfling (2013), the conscientiousness and the openness to experience are contradictory in nature. As a result, the presence of the factor conscientiousness creates an adverse impact on the work outcomes of openness to experience. By following the high conscientiousness, the individual one can be self disciplined, dutiful, organized and planned but, the work outcome is not significant enough. On the other hand, as per the view of Cred, Harms, Niehorster Gaye-Valentine (2012), low conscientiousness are spontaneous and flexible and it provides the positive outcome which ensures the further growth of the organization. Thus, both the factors have a contradictory impact on the global management capabilities of individual one. Development plan According to Wang, Jackson, Zhang Su (2012), the DIEP framework which includes the elements of describe, interpret, evaluate and plan helps to evaluate the reflective document of the research topic. In this perspective, the openness to experience is chosen from the Big five personality model and the other two factors are impression management and cooperativeness. Describe In the view of mine, the describe portion of this model reveals the information that what is learned and observed from the research analysis. By following this criterion, from the factor of openness to experience, it can be stated that high openness signifies the job progression which would enhance the level of outcome along with maintain high quality. In this perspective, I observe that high openness to experience is beneficial for the global management as it creates creativity, innovation power and imagination power of the individuals. I have passed various tests in order to get the idea which would help me to enhance the power of a leader in the global management process. This test would help to identify my strength and weakness and it would help to analyze my stand point in which I can improve my ability in the global management. Moreover, the impression management of an organization leads to sustain goodwill of the company by which the employees get motivation towards their work . In this context, I learned that with the implementation of impression management, encouragement can be possible by shaping the perceptions of object and event through social interactions. However, cooperativeness between the employees and the higher authority would motivate them to work properly. For example Toyota Car Company expands in New Zealand in terms of global management. The above factors help in this process. Interpret As stated by Shedler Westen (2014), in the interpret portion of DIEP model, the reflection is based on the overall identification, explanations and conclusion. From the Big five personality model, it can be shown that the factor openness to experience has a positive impact on the progression of job. In this perspective, the outcome is also positive and significant. In this context, the above analysis showcases the fact that openness to experience has a positive relationship with the performance of high complexity job whereas, negative relationship with the low complexity job. Furthermore, it can be concluded that there is a contradictory relationship with the conscientiousness and openness to experience which would severely affect the progression of job of individual one. On the other hand, the impression management helps to control the information in terms of social interactions which would beneficial for achieving foster growth of an organization. Furthermore, cooperative nature o f the employees enhances the level of trust to each other which would motivate the workers towards the job. In addition, it would help to increase the level of challenging power of the individual. After implementation of this strategy in New Zealand in terms of the global management, job progression improves, social interactions develop, and foster growth has done. From the overall perspective, I come up to the conclusion that by the three attributes such as cautious honesty, sensitivity to the cultural diversity and moderate extravert, I become an efficient leader of the organization. After implementation of this strategy in New Zealand in terms of the global management, job progression improves, social interactions develop, and foster growth has done. Evaluate On the other hand, in the words of Jia, Jia Karau (2013), evaluate portion of this model involves the description of the model whether it is effective or not. In this context, the factor of the Big five personality model, openness to experience is effective one to improve the capabilities of global management of an organization. With the implementation of this factor in the procedure of global management, the outcomes of work can be increased and the quality of work can be improved. However, the creativity, innovativeness and imagination power of the employees can be increased which would ensure the positive outcome of the job. In this perspective, the employees get motivation towards their work as they are free to do the job. Moreover, this strategy would help to complete the job which is high complexity in nature. In this perspective, I am reliable in nature and can be ble to relate to the problems associated with the organizations. However, the creativity, innovativeness and imag ination power of the employees can be increased which would ensure the positive outcome of the job. In this perspective, the employees get motivation towards their work as they are free to do the job. Moreover, this strategy would help to complete the job which is high complexity in nature. This is beneficial for the foster growth of the organization. As a result, according to my point of view, the above concerned factor of the big five personality model is effective and efficient to improve the capabilities of global management. Apart from this, impression management and cooperative factors are also beneficial in respect of global management as it would create goodwill of the organization by shaping the objective and event of the company. I am that type of person who is helpful in nature and always available to mitigate the current problem of the organization. I maintain the social relation with the team members. Moreover, I would help to build trust among the team. In addition, I have an interest in cultures and lives of the others which would help me to identify the background of others. Moreover, my cautious honesty would help to feel the people competent and it built trust among them. The above stated strategy is effective for achieving growth of the company along with country. Creativity, innovativeness, improved work and good will maintained. Plan For plan section, I use SMART goals in this context. Specific In specific objective, I want to acquire improvement of the capabilities of the employees of Toyota Car Company in respect of global management in New Zealand. Measurable Furthermore, in measurable section, I want to measure the job progression of the employees, performance scores, openness to the work and complexity of the job in Toyota Car Company in New Zealand. Achievable In addition, the above stated strategy can be achievable through the effective measure and policy in Toyota Car Company in New Zealand. Reachable The above strategy by implementation of these factors can be reachable properly. Time On the other hand, the objectives and goals of the organization need to complete in the specific time zone such as two years in Toyota Car Company in New Zealand. Table 1: SMART goal Source: (As created by author) Conclusion After the analysis, it can be stated that this study has aimed to highlight the concept of how the personality factors are able to reflect the global management capability. In this purpose, this study has highlighted that there are five factors, which can effectively influence the performance of the global leaders in case of the expansion of the global businesses. These factors are such as inquisitiveness, dealing with the several perspectives of the businesses, accumulation of the overseas experiences and then add the valuation, lastly identification of the requirements of the several global businesses models. On the other hand, this study is also beneficial to identify the necessity of big five factors such as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and the neuroticism. In this connection, this study has highlighted the concept of openness and the conscientiousness factors. There is a negative relationship between these two factors. In addition, the impact of these two factors have mentioned in this study. Moreover, in order to discuss the development plan, this study has aimed to the DIEP model. DIEP model is helpful to discuss the description, interpretation, evaluation and planning of the three factors such as openness, impression management and the cooperative nature of the global leaders. In addition, the SMART goal is discussed in order to identify the importance of the three mentioned factors. References Collings, D. G. (2014).
