Social media has come out as the medium to realize this desire in these times of social media take-over. New research shows that it is not what one updates on social sites like Facebook, or what profile they create, that makes them considered for job positions. After all, not almost everyone is on these sites including the employers themselves. This research is however quite very disputable because the number of employers that still think that profiles and job performance are related is high; 93% of hirers to be precise.Authors such as Phillip Roth and Van Iddekinge disagree with this criterion of using social media to forecast an individuals behavior in a working environment. According to them, the Facebook posts and profiles cannot be grounds to evaluate a persons character because there is no actual assurance that they are true. Relying on social media to predict job performance of potential employees is not reasonable because after conducting the research, it was found that there was no absolute correlation between the performance of the hired employees and the information their employers had collected about them from social sites (Roth 39). More evidence indicates that this strategy creates bias as certain ratings of Facebook favored females and white people.
